The Cafeteria came to me on Yelp recently. I checked to see if my review was still there and it wasn't. I've enjoyed eating here and forgot about it. My first experience eating here was about six months after 911. I was visiting NYC and I told my daughter I wanted to see the area where the World Trade Center once stood. She said I wouldn't be able to get very close but I insisted. I didn't realize how bad the air quality was and from a block or so away I vividly remember a huge pile of rubble and a lot of workers. I'm sorry I went because I already had a hard time getting over what happened with my daughter working nearby. The up side to our visit in the neighborhood we walked to the Cafeteria for lunch. My daughter had been and thought I would enjoy the experience. It was a new experience for me at the time. Tables so close together. I felt uncomfortable carrying on a conversation. My daughter sat on the cushion seat and I was across the table in a chair when the server came. Everything was delicious, timely and we shared a memory. What really sticks out in my memory is my trip to the restroom. I didn't know that my credit card wallet fell out of my back pocket after I used the restroom. I went back to our table and it was almost time to pay. A customer came up to me at the table and said "excuse me you dropped this in the bathroom". Oh my God! I was so relieved, thanked her and said I would have realized I was in trouble when the bill came! My faith in humanity was restored. After this visit to the Cafeteria none of the other visits were that memorable. I wasn't Yelping back then. I'm recommending you go if you are in the neighborhood. It's a great NYC experience with a large selection of offerings.

Twenty-six (yes, 26 years later) Cafeteria is still going strong in the chic chic environs of Chelsea. Our party of ten (cousins altogether who traveled from all over) were in town for brunch (and more) on a sultry July Sunday morning. At 10:30am we were seated at a long outdoor table, where a plethora of entrees were ordered: - Grits Bowl - sunny eggs, tomatoes, sausage crumble, shishitos - Green pesto chevre fluffy eggs with Ham and biscuit - Omelet of spinach & Swiss with toast + hash browns - Bistro burger, tomato, lettuce on brioche bun with fries - Crispy Fried chicken, pickles on Brioche bun with fries - Lemon Ricotta pancakes, blueberries, Vermont maple syrup - Crunchy croissant French toast with berry compote + + + Cappuccino, coffee, tea and + + + Green juice of granny smith apple, parsley, cucumber, kale, spinach, lemon and ginger (Yummy!) A family Funday Sunday filled with laughter & love & legacy was enjoyed by all! ** Good people watching too** Until next time ...Thank you! :)

Walking by this cute restaurant made us crave a refreshing drink and lunch. It wasn't too busy when we arrived, but was filled by the time we left. Our server, Dylan, was friendly and allowed me to make slight modifications to my dish. I ordered the butter lettuce salad and added crispy shallots for the crunch factor. It was pretty good, but needed more dressing or more flavor. I added some balsamic vinegar and olive oil, which was fine. Cafeteria is a nice place to pop in for a meal.

Cute place. Shripmtaco appetizer was on point. Great burgers. But my favorite was the cocktail. Frozen Cosmo. I will take a gallon to go. Strong, frost and refreshing!
